Nevada Test Site

The Sedan Crater

Sedan Crader, the largest crater in the United States, was produced by the detonation of a nuclear device on July 6, 1962, at the Nevada Test Site.

It was the second largest nuclear excavation experiment in the Atomic Energy Commission's Plowshare program. The Sedan Crater was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.

Wood Structure

This historic wood structure, located on the Nevada Test Site, was constructed by Native Americans during the pine nut harvesting season to serve as a shelter.

The remote Nevata Test Site comprises approximately 5,470 square miles.
