Eckerman's DFINT, DFEXT, and CHAINS Codes
The DFINT (Dose Factor INTernal) code is used to view the full set of dose coefficients of ICRP Publication 30, Parts 1 - 4 for inhalation and ingestion intakes of radionuclides. The coefficients, in abridged form, appeared in the supplements to ICRP-30 and in EPA Federal Guidance Report No. 11.
The code DFEXT (Dose Factor EXTernal) views a set of dose rate coefficients, or dose per unit integrated exposure for tissues of the body irradiated by nuclides distributed in the environment. The coefficients are those contained in EPA Federal Guidance Report No. 12.
CHAINS is a version of the CHAIN code that uses a floating-point multiple precision arithmetic package to overcome the numerical difficulties associated with insufficient precision and graininess in floating point arithmetic. CHAINS solves the Bateman equations with those portions of the calculations subject to precision difficulties in extended precision - 50 significant digits. The information on half-lives, branching fractions, and emitted energies is from ICRP Publication 38.
